Musikinstrumente- und Puppenmuseum, Music and doll museum in Goslar, Germany.
The Music and Doll Museum was housed in a patrician residence built around 1510 in central Goslar, displaying a substantial collection of musical instruments and dolls across four floors. The building contained more than 750 musical instruments alongside porcelain dolls and toys spanning different periods and styles.
The museum focused on objects manufactured between 1835 and 1935, providing insight into two centuries of craftsmanship and toy production. It operated until 2011, after which significant portions of the collection were relocated to other institutions.
The collection featured musical instruments from many parts of the world, showcasing how different cultures expressed themselves through sound and craft. Each room revealed new traditions and the ways people made music across continents and communities.
The museum occupied a historic building in Goslar's old town, reachable on foot from the central area and connected by narrow staircases across its floors. Visitors should note that the museum is no longer operating and much of the collection has been dispersed to other locations.
The collection featured a remarkable assembly of miniature instruments, including tiny trumpets crafted with surprising precision by skilled makers. These delicate pieces sat alongside a bass saxophone standing 1.30 meters tall, illustrating the striking contrast in instrument sizes on display.
