New Kalabsha, Archaeological site on island near Aswan, Egypt
The Temple of Kalabsha stands as the main structure of New Kalabsha, featuring intricate stone carvings and multiple chambers dedicated to ancient deities.
The original Kalabsha Temple construction started during late Ptolemaic times and reached completion under Emperor Augustus between 30 BC and 14 AD.
The temple walls display numerous inscriptions depicting emperors and pharaohs interacting with Egyptian gods, including the Nubian solar deity Mandulis.
Visitors reach New Kalabsha by taking a motor boat from the western side of the High Dam, with trips requiring approximately one hour for site exploration.
In 1977, the Egyptian government presented the original outer stone gateway to Germany as recognition for their assistance in relocating the entire structure.
