Deir el-Muallaq, Coptic Orthodox monastery in Asyut Governorate, Egypt.
The monastery complex contains three churches, including the ancient Virgin Mary's Church from the 12th century and a stone fortress from the 6th century.
The monastery dates back to the 4th century and includes a chapel with a preserved lectern from the 12th century within its stone fortification.
The Church of al-Adhra stands over a cave where local traditions state Mary and Jesus stayed during their journey through Egypt.
The monastery maintains a manuscript library containing documents from the 13th century and thousands of texts from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The site experienced damage in 2013 when fires affected multiple buildings and impacted the collection of ancient Coptic manuscripts.
