Mundomar, Public aquarium in Benidorm, Spain
Mundomar is a marine park in Benidorm, on the Costa Blanca, where dolphins, sea lions, parrots, coatis, lemurs, and turtles live in areas designed for each species. The grounds are spread across a hillside, with paved paths connecting the different animal zones.
The park opened in the 1990s with a focus on marine and exotic animals, becoming one of the first facilities of its kind on the Costa Blanca. Over time, it expanded its range of species and added hands-on experiences to attract a wider audience.
Daily keeper sessions at Mundomar show how dolphins and sea lions are trained and how they respond to human interaction. These moments offer a direct look at how the animals behave when they are engaged and active.
The park has free parking and can be reached by direct bus from central Benidorm. Since the grounds are on a slope, comfortable shoes and plenty of water are useful, especially on hot days.
Visitors can sign up to spend part of a day working alongside a keeper or swim with sea lions under supervision, two experiences that go beyond the standard visit. Spots for these activities are limited, so booking ahead is worth considering.
