Mother Parish of the Apostle Santiago

The Mother Parish of the Apostle Santiago is a Roman Catholic parish church with three naves featuring separate roofs, a tower added in 1714, and chapels flanking the presbytery. The interior shows a traditional colonial structure that developed across several building periods.

The building originated in 1496 when Alonso Fernández de Lugo established the first Christian church on Tenerife. Later modifications, especially the tower addition in the early 1700s, reflect the community's evolving needs over time.
