Parc naturel régional du Vexin français, Regional natural park in Val-d'Oise, France
Located on a limestone plateau between the Seine and Oise rivers, this protected area spans 71,000 hectares of diverse landscapes including marshes, hillsides, and woodlands.
The region derives its name from the Veliocasses, a Gaulish tribe, and was divided by the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte in 911 into Norman and French sections.
The park contains numerous architectural elements such as castles, churches, agricultural estates, mills, fountains, dovecotes, and wash houses representing rural French heritage.
Visitors can access information and exhibits at the Maison du Parc in Théméricourt, which serves as the central point for discovering the park's attractions.
In 2014, this natural park received the 'Pays d'art et d'histoire' designation from the French Ministry of Culture, becoming the first regional park with this recognition.
