Treasury of the Sicyonians, Ancient Greek treasury in Delphi, Greece
The Treasury of the Sicyonians features a pronaos with two caryatids supporting the pediment and measures 8.27 meters long by 6.09 meters wide.
Constructed around 525 BC, this treasury replaced two earlier structures, the Tholos and Monopteros, which were built by Sicyon during the sixth century BC.
The building contains friezes depicting mythological scenes, including Heracles' conflict over Apollo's tripod and the assembly of the Twelve Olympian gods.
The remains of the Treasury are preserved within the Delphi Archaeological Site, where visitors can examine the Doric architectural elements and decorative features.
The architectural components of the previous structures were deliberately buried rather than reused, marking a significant political transformation in Sicyonian governance.
