Menora Mivtachim Arena, Sports arena in Yad Eliyahu, Tel Aviv, Israel
The Menora Mivtachim Arena is a sports and entertainment venue in the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood of southern Tel Aviv. Its seating rises in several tiers around a central floor, holding more than ten thousand people during basketball games and large shows.
The building opened in September 1963 with a basketball game between Israel and Yugoslavia, serving as one of the country's first modern indoor sports halls. During the 1970s, the original concrete steps were replaced with individual seats and a second tier was added to increase capacity.
The arena serves as the primary venue for Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club, hosting numerous national championships and European tournament matches.
The building stands in a residential neighborhood south of downtown and connects easily to public transit routes. Parking spaces, food stands, and wheelchair access are available around the hall.
The name honors the insurance group Menora Mivtachim, whose sponsorship over recent decades helped modernize the building. Today the hall hosts not only basketball but also concerts and other large events.
