Fazilka, Administrative town in Punjab, India

Fazilka is an administrative town in Punjab's Fazilka district, situated on elevated terrain and surrounded by agricultural fields and irrigation channels. It functions as a trading hub with connections to neighboring regions through rail and road networks.

The town was founded in 1844 by J. H. Oliver, transforming uncultivated land into a trading point between Punjab and the Sindh region. This establishment marked the beginning of organized settlement in the area.

The Heritage Festival draws people together each year to celebrate traditional Punjabi music, dance, and regional food. The event highlights local artists and the customs that shape everyday life in the town.

The town is connected to major cities via National Highway 7, and a railway station provides regular services to nearby areas. Once you arrive, ask about local transport like buses or taxis to reach the town center and surrounding regions.

At the India-Pakistan border, the Sadiqui Check Post hosts a daily flag ceremony where soldiers from both countries participate together. This ritual is a rare example of regular contact between the two sides at this border crossing.
