Farakka Setu, Girder bridge in Murshidabad and Malda district, India.
Farakka Setu is a cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Ganges River and links two regions of West Bengal. The structure carries four traffic lanes and spans across the river in a single long reach.
The project began in early 2019 with an international building team working to improve connections between the two banks. The work aimed to make travel between regions faster and more direct.
The bridge reinforces the connection between North and South Bengal, enabling local communities to maintain stronger social and economic relationships across the Ganges River.
The structure sits near an existing dam facility and forms a key transportation hub for the area. Visitors can view and cross this bridge from different vantage points along the bank.
Each lane of the bridge measures 12.5 meters in width, making it one of the tallest bridges in India and the longest bridge in West Bengal.
