Kūh-e Zendeh

Kūh-e Zendeh is a stratovolcano in Iranshahr County that reaches approximately 3490 meters in elevation and features a summit crater roughly 500 meters wide. The mountain rises from desert terrain with steep, rocky slopes typical of volcanic formations.

This volcanic formation was first documented through geological surveys in the late 1800s and recorded in early scientific studies of southeastern Iran. These early investigations helped establish understanding of the region's volcanic landscape.

The mountain's Persian name reflects its role as a natural landmark in the local geography of Sistan and Baluchestan. Local people recognize it as a distinctive reference point within their landscape.

Access to the mountain requires travel through desert routes that demand preparation for extreme heat and aridity. Visitors should bring sufficient water and sun protection while wearing sturdy footwear for rocky terrain.

Although no eruptions have been recorded, the mountain displays active fumaroles along its slopes that release carbon dioxide vapors. This ongoing underground geological activity makes it a noteworthy subject for volcanology.
