Province of Asti, Administrative province in Piedmont, Italy
The Province of Asti extends across 1,504 square kilometers of rolling hills covered with vineyards between Turin and Alessandria in northwestern Italy.
The territory received recognition as an independent province in 1935 following a royal decree by King Victor Emmanuel III, separating it from the Province of Alessandria.
The province maintains strong wine-making traditions with 118 municipalities producing notable varieties including Moscato d'Asti, Barbera d'Asti, and other regional wines.
The provincial capital Asti connects to major transportation routes, offering direct rail and road access to Turin, located 55 kilometers to the northwest.
The territory earned the Gold Medal for Military Valor due to its resistance activities during World War II between 1943 and 1945.
