Kasseler Hütte, rifugio alpino di Campo Tures
Kasseler Hütte is a mountain hut in Sand in Taufers that stands on rocky terrain high in the South Tyrolean Alps. The building offers about 10 beds in private rooms and space for about 70 more people in large shared dormitories, with wood and stone throughout creating a warm and inviting interior.
The building was constructed in the late 1800s and has served generations of hikers, shepherds, and climbers. Over the years it has been maintained and updated while preserving its rustic character as an important resting point in the mountain landscape.
The hut carries the name of a place in Germany, connecting two mountain regions through its past. Visitors experience a tradition of mountain hospitality where the Seeber family welcomes guests like old friends and often plays accordion or shares local stories.
The hut can be reached easily by car, with the main parking lot located in Rein in Taufers below, from where a marked trail takes about an hour and a half to walk. It is best to arrive early in the day, especially during busy seasons, to find space and enjoy the relaxed pace of mountain life.
The path to the hut passes through larch forests and past small local farms, with hikers hearing the sound of nearby waterfalls along the way. These sensory details, often overlooked, transform the walk into an experience that goes beyond simply reaching a destination.
