Sant'Omobono, Medieval church at Capitoline Hill, Rome, Italy

The Sant'Omobono church stands at the intersection of Via Petroselli and Vico Jugario, featuring a simple architectural design with a modest facade.

Originally constructed in 1401 as San Salvatore in Portico, the church received its current name in 1575 when it was given to the tailors' guild.

The church maintains its connection to the tailors' profession through its dedication to Saint Homobonus, the patron saint of textile workers and merchants.

Visitors can access the church through its entrance at the foot of the Capitoline Hill, near the archaeological area containing ancient Roman temple remains.

The church structure sits above substantial archaeological remains of two Roman temples dating from the sixth century BCE, making it a multilayered historical site.
