Valdilana, Italian municipality in the province of Biella
Valdilana is a small commune in the hills of Piedmont in the Province of Biella. It consists of several areas including Bulliana, Cereje, Crocemosso, Mosso, Soprana, Pratrivero, and Valle Mosso that together form a landscape of gentle slopes, fields, and forests with traditional stone houses.
Valdilana was formed on January 1, 2019, by merging four smaller communes: Mosso, Valle Mosso, Soprana, and Trivero. The area has long roots as farmland where generations of people grew crops and raised livestock to sustain themselves.
The name Valdilana reflects the valley landscape that defines this place. Residents keep local traditions alive through festivals where you see traditional clothing, music, and homemade dishes that connect people to their shared past.
The commune is about 14 kilometers from Biella, a larger town offering more shops and services. Basic needs like groceries and cafes are available locally, and the nearby city is easy to reach for bigger shopping or more specialized amenities.
Valdilana is a very recent commune, formed only in 2019, so many visitors do not realize that the four merged towns each have their own separate local histories. Each of these places maintains its own stories and traditions that continue to shape the character of the larger area.
