Gokiso Station, metro station in Nagoya, Aichi prefecture, Japan
Gokiso Station is an underground railway station in Nagoya that serves as an interchange point between the Tsurumai Line and the Sakura-dori Line. The facility features two side platforms on opposite sides for the Tsurumai Line and a central platform for the Sakura-dori Line, allowing passengers to switch lines easily.
The station opened in 1977 and has been part of Nagoya's subway system since then. In 2011, platform screen doors were installed to improve passenger safety and prevent accidents.
The station sits along Gokiso-dori street, where small shops and cafes shape the neighborhood and neighbors greet each other as they pass. On special occasions, families gather nearby for local festivals, showing how this transit point weaves into community life.
Access to the station is via stairs or elevators leading underground, where bright signs and markings guide you to the correct platforms. Trains run regularly with minimal wait times, and the straightforward station layout makes it easy to navigate even on your first visit.
The station features side platform screen doors that open and close in sync with the trains, an advanced safety system that prevents falls onto the tracks. This feature is common in Japanese rail stations and makes the space instantly recognizable.
