Bampaku-kinen-kōen Station, railway station in Suita, Osaka prefecture, Japan
Bampaku-kinen-kōen Station is a monorail terminus and interchange station in Suita, in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture. It serves as the western end of the Osaka Monorail main line and also connects to the Saito Line, allowing passengers to change between the two services.
The station opened in 1990 as part of the launch of the Osaka Monorail, which was developed to improve transport links across the northern suburbs of Osaka. The Saito Line was added later, turning the station into a proper interchange point rather than just a terminus.
The station name refers to the nearby Expo Commemoration Park, built on the grounds of the 1970 World Exposition. Most people arriving here are day-trippers heading to the park, so the flow of visitors follows the rhythm of weekends and school holidays.
The two monorail lines have separate but clearly signed platforms, so transferring between them is straightforward even on a first visit. The station can get crowded on weekends and public holidays, when the nearby park draws large numbers of visitors, so arriving early in the day is a good idea.
The Osaka Monorail is recognized as one of the longest urban monorail systems in the world, and this station sits at one of its endpoints. Despite being a terminus, the station does not feel like a dead end, as the Saito Line departure gives it the feel of a through-route hub.
