Ōmi-Maiko Station, railway station in Otsu, Shiga prefecture, Japan
Ōmi-Maiko Station is an elevated railway station in Ōtsu that operates on the Kosei Line, managed by JR West. The facility features two platforms on opposite sides of the tracks, accessible via stairs and walkways, though it lacks elevators and wheelchair ramps.
The station opened in 1974 when Japan was expanding its railway network. In 1987, it became part of JR West after the national railway company was reorganized and privatized under new management structures.
The station has no elevators or accessibility aids, so visitors with mobility issues should plan ahead. Staff members are available to answer questions and provide assistance, especially for travelers unfamiliar with the area.
In 2018, the station received the number JR-B19 as part of a nationwide numbering system that helps travelers find trains more easily, particularly for visitors unable to read Japanese. This system makes train travel less confusing and improves navigation for all passengers.
