Shiodome Freight Terminal, Abandoned railway station in Higashi-Shinbashi, Japan.
The Shiodome Freight Terminal contains preserved foundations of the original platform and a reconstructed exterior of the station building from 1872.
The terminal operated from 1872 until 1986, starting as Tokyo's first railway station before converting to freight operations after Tokyo Station opened in 1914.
Archaeological excavations between 1991 and 2000 uncovered numerous artifacts including remains of foreign workers' accommodations and early railway equipment.
The terminal grounds integrate into the Shiodome Sio-Site development, which features modern skyscrapers, business offices, and public transportation connections.
The site received protection as a National Historic Site in 1965, preserving evidence of Japan's first railway operations during the country's industrial modernization.
