Mint Museum, Numismatic museum in Tenma, Japan.
The Mint Museum is a museum in Tenma that focuses on coins, medals, and manufacturing equipment displayed in a red brick building. The collection features both Japanese and international pieces located within Sakuranomiya Park.
The building was constructed in 1911 as a thermal power plant and remains one of the few preserved Western-style brick structures from the Meiji period. It later became home to the Japanese Mint's collection.
The museum displays coins and medals that tell stories about economic development and national achievements across different periods. Visitors can see objects that show how Japan connected with international events and exchanges.
Admission is free and audio guides are available in multiple languages to help visitors navigate. The interior spaces are easy to explore and the surrounding park invites a leisurely visit.
In mid-April the museum grounds transform with hundreds of cherry trees in bloom creating a flowering corridor through the park. Many visitors time their trip to experience this natural display alongside the collections.
