Kyōbashi, Road bridge in Osaka, Japan.
Kyōbashi is a road bridge in Chūō-ku and Miyakojima Ward, Osaka, Japan, linking two busy districts over the waterway. The steel structure measures 55.1 meters (181 feet) in length and 9 meters (30 feet) in width.
The bridge opened in 1924 during a period of rapid urban expansion after the Meiji era. Its construction improved connections between growing residential and commercial areas east of the city center.
The name translates to Capital Bridge in English, reflecting the area's former importance as a gateway to the city center. Locals use it daily to reach offices, markets and the train hub on the Miyakojima side.
Pedestrians and vehicles share the crossing, with narrow sidewalks running along both sides. The bridge is easiest to reach from Kyōbashi Station, which serves several lines and sits directly at the eastern end.
The surrounding area has remained a key transit node for decades, even as many bridges in Osaka were rebuilt after World War II. Small restaurants under the nearby railway arches attract commuters who stop before or after work.
