Tio舞子, Shopping and residential skyscraper in Tarumi Ward, Kobe, Japan.
Tio Maiko is a 101-meter tall building with 26 floors above ground and one basement level located directly adjacent to Maiko Station in Tarumi Ward. Its lower floors hold shops while upper levels contain residential units, creating a mixed-use structure that combines commerce with living spaces.
Construction was completed in March 2001 as part of the Maiko Station District First Urban Redevelopment Project, designed by Nikken Sekkei architects. This marked a turning point in the district's transformation following broader efforts to modernize Kobe.
The name comes from the initials of Traffic, Information, and Oasis, showing how the building was meant to serve as a meeting point for the local community. You can see this purpose reflected in how people move through the shops and public areas.
The building connects directly to JR Maiko Station, Sanyo Maiko Park Station, and Maiko Bus Terminal, making it easy to arrive by public transportation. It operates from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, with convenient access through multiple transport links.
An observation restaurant in the upper floors offers views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, one of the world's longest suspension bridges. This view adds a special quality to dining and spending time at the location.
