Harmonyland, Sanrio theme park in Hiji, Japan
Harmonyland is a theme park in Hiji, Japan, focused entirely on characters like Hello Kitty and My Melody. The grounds divide into several zones with rides, play areas, and stages for live performances.
The park opened on April 26, 1991, becoming the first major Sanrio facility on Kyushu island. Since then, operators have steadily expanded the grounds and added new attractions.
Sanrio characters shape daily life in the park through costume shows and meet-and-greet sessions that draw children and families from across the region. Visitors see how Japanese pop culture merges with amusement park traditions, with mascots often posing for group photographs.
Shuttle buses run from Yobuko Station and Kitsuki Station several times daily to the entrance. Paths are mostly flat, and almost all zones suit families with young children.
The entrance area displays a large Sanrio sculpture that often serves as a meeting point for groups. The park also holds a rare collection of original character sketches, displayed in a small gallery room.
