Shimobe Spa is a hot spring resort in Minobu fed by natural springs known for their healing properties for over a thousand years. The area features more than a dozen hotels and inns, all drawing water from the same underground source, and many allow visitors to bathe without staying overnight.
According to legend, a shrine was founded here after a 9th-century provincial lord came to the healing waters for recovery, and the renowned warlord Takeda Shingen also reportedly visited the area. The settlement has maintained its character as a hot spring resort since then and was later recognized among Japan's 100 famous hot springs.

A special spot is the small Kumano Shrine hidden on a hillside, reached through a narrow alley and marked by a bright red torii gate. The shrine has a unique feature: a giant slide that is part of its structure.
