Kurashiki Kokusai Hotel, hotel in Kurashiki, Japan

Kurashiki Kokusai Hotel is a hotel in central Kurashiki, Japan, with a European-style exterior and Japanese decorative details inside. The rooms are fitted with modern amenities, and many face either the historic old district or the surrounding gardens.

The hotel opened in 1963, making it the oldest lodging in Kurashiki. Over the decades, it witnessed the town shift from a traditional merchant center to one of the most visited destinations in the Okayama region.

The hotel sits beside the Bikan district, where old merchant houses made of dark timber line narrow canals shaded by willow trees. Walking through the area, visitors come across small galleries, ceramics shops, and cafes that give a sense of everyday life in old Kurashiki.

The hotel is a short walk from Kurashiki Station, which makes it easy to reach the Bikan district and the nearby museums on foot. Parking in the old district is limited, so it is worth asking the hotel staff about nearby parking options before arriving by car.

The hotel lobby displays a large woodblock print by artist Shikou Munakata, said to be the largest of its kind in the world. Beside it stands an old vase made from Bizen pottery, a ceramic tradition from the nearby town of Bizen with roots going back over a thousand years.
