南芦屋浜, Artificial island in Ashiya, Japan
Minami Ashiya Hama is an artificial island in Ashiya featuring four neighborhoods connected by waterways and waterfront paths. The district includes a general park, hospital, commercial establishments, and a marina serving the local community.
The area emerged in the 1990s following the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake, when it initially served as a debris storage site. The transformation into a residential district was completed in 1997.
The Ashiya City General Park and Ashiya Marina provide spaces for local celebrations, including an annual summer fireworks festival that draws large crowds.
The area can be explored on foot or by bicycle using the waterways and coastal paths as guides. Daytime visits offer the best experience with good visibility and access to all facilities throughout the district.
The district contains a white sand beach known for its designated fishing spots along the northern waterways. This blend of recreational and fishing zones creates an unusual combination for a developed area.
