Shiokawa Falls, Waterfall in Aikawa, Japan
Shiokawa Falls cascades down 30 meters through the Minamiyamasawa Mountains, with a second drop of 15 meters in its lower section.
The waterfall gained recognition during the Jinki Era between 724 and 729 when a high priest from Todai-ji Temple established a shrine to Seiryo Gongen.
The site maintains its connection to Japanese spiritual practices through Takigyo, where practitioners stand under the falling water for meditation.
The Takigami Bridge, positioned 7 meters high, provides multiple viewing angles of the waterfall and serves as a photography platform.
Located at an elevation of 165.2 meters, the falls feed into a smaller cascade 6 meters downstream along the Shiokawa River.
