高田橋, Bridge across Sagami River in Chuo Ward, Sagamihara, Japan.
Takata Bridge (高田橋) is a road bridge made of steel and concrete that spans the Sagami River in Sagamihara, Japan. It carries multiple traffic lanes and connects central districts on both banks of the river.
The first bridge at this crossing was completed in 1924 and took its name from the villages of Takamine and Tana, which stood on opposite banks. The name was formed by combining one character from each village name.
During Sagamihara's summer fireworks festival, the riverbanks near the bridge fill with people watching the display over the water. The spot draws crowds from across the city, making it one of the most lively riverside areas during that season.
The bridge is open to both foot traffic and vehicles, and walkways on the sides offer a clear view of the river. The riverbanks nearby are accessible on foot and worth exploring at a relaxed pace.
The stretch of river near this crossing is a known spot for catching ayu, a small freshwater fish considered a seasonal delicacy in Japan. Fishing for ayu draws enthusiasts from well beyond the local area during the warmer months.
