神奈川県立あいかわ公園

This park covers 51 hectares of land near Miyagase Dam and blends natural terrain with recreational facilities. It includes a Craft Village, a local history museum, and playgrounds spread across the hillside grounds.

The park was created alongside the construction of Miyagase Dam to offer recreation for people living in the surrounding region. This combination of infrastructure and public space was central to the area's development.

The Craft Village keeps traditional Japanese arts alive through hands-on workshops where visitors can try indigo dyeing, pottery, and bamboo crafting. These activities show how local artisans continue these skills in everyday practice.

The park is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM daily and has parking for around 650 vehicles. Different areas like the Adventure Forest operate on their own schedules, so it helps to check ahead for what you want to visit.

In spring, the sloped terrain becomes a display of color through approximately 40,000 azalea plants in roughly 40 different varieties. The plants spread across the hillside and create gradual color transitions that last for weeks.
