Oroku is a residential district in southern Naha covering approximately 11 square kilometers at coordinates 26°11′14.9"N and 127°40′6.5"E. The area features a mix of residential buildings and is home to a military installation.
The area served as an airfield for the Imperial Japanese Navy starting in the 1930s and played a key role in military operations until World War II ended. Following Okinawa's return to Japan in 1972, a Self-Defense Force base was established here.
