Banzuiin contains an Amitabha Buddha statue as its principal deity and extends across multiple buildings surrounded by maintained gardens.
The temple originated in 1603 under Tokugawa Ieyasu's guidance as Kanda San Shinchoji, relocating to its current Koganei location in 1940 after several moves.
The temple functions as a funeral hall with a capacity of 70 people, maintaining Japanese Buddhist funeral traditions through various ceremonial services.
Located at 3-37-1 Maehara-cho, the temple provides parking for 30 vehicles and stands seven minutes on foot from Musashi-Koganei Station.
The temple operated as one of the eighteen Kanto Danrin schools, producing numerous high priests of the Jodo sect in the Kanto region.
