Seibu Tamagawa Line, Railway line in western Tokyo, Japan
The Seibu Tamagawa Line is an 8 kilometer railway running through the western suburbs of Tokyo, linking Musashi-Sakai with Koremasa. The route follows the course of the Tama River and connects several residential neighborhoods to the capital's broader rail network.
Service began on October 22, 1917, covering the section between Musashi-Sakai and Kita-Tama. The extension to Koremasa followed in 1922, establishing the present route alignment.
The line provides access to the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and multiple traditional cemeteries, including the expansive Tama Cemetery.
New 101 Series trains run on the single-track route and pass each other at stations with double tracks. Travelers should plan connections at terminal stations to reach other Seibu lines or the subway network.
The line remains separate from the rest of the Seibu network and has no direct track connection to other routes operated by the company. A maintenance link near Musashi-Sakai allows train transfers and technician access when needed.
