渋川動物公園, Animal park in Tamano, Japan.
Shibukawa Zoo sits within Setonaikai National Park and spreads across natural grounds with around 10 hectares. The facility brings together animal collections and forest preservation through approximately 80 species housed in the Okayama area.
The zoo opened in 1989 and came about as a response to the desire for nature-based animal care. Its development was shaped by the idea of linking conservation and education together.
The park takes its name from the nearby Shibukawa River and reflects a commitment to animal care that respects natural habitats. Visitors notice this approach throughout the grounds, where animals roam in open spaces rather than confined enclosures.
Flat pathways and natural ground make the site easy to walk through, though proper footwear is wise in wet conditions. Visiting works year-round, with early morning hours offering the best chance to see animals.
A special program lets visitors spend time with dogs in the park and walk them through the green spaces. This experience provides closer contact with animals than traditional zoo viewing.
