泰平寺

Taihei-ji is a Buddhist temple with multiple buildings arranged along stone pathways and surrounded by quiet gardens. The layout combines prayer halls, meditation spaces, and residential quarters for monks in a traditional composition that has remained largely unchanged over centuries.

The temple was founded in 708 and represents one of the earliest Buddhist institutions established in the region. Its origins trace to the Nara period, when Buddhism was growing as a formal religious force across Japan.

Each spring, native flowers bloom naturally across the grounds, growing on their own around the buildings and creating shifting patterns in the gardens. This seasonal display is not a designed planting but rather flowers that have established themselves over generations.
