Nabeshima Lighthouse, Maritime navigation lighthouse on Nabeshima Island, Sakaide, Japan

Nabeshima Lighthouse is a maritime navigation light on an island in Sakaide featuring six round stone columns on its facade. The building was constructed from granite sourced from the neighboring Yoshima Island.

The structure was built in 1873 under British architect Richard Henry Brunton and originally served as living quarters for lighthouse keepers. In 1955 it was converted to a Coast Guard facility.

The structure shows a blend of Western columns with Japanese roof tiles in its design. Visitors can observe how these two styles come together in a single building when walking around it.

The interior follows a Western floor plan with a central hallway, while bathing and toilet facilities are positioned in separate structures outside the main building. Visitors should expect these facilities to be separate from the main living areas.

The stone structure includes an attached stone storehouse building and has been recognized as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. This designation reflects the historical importance of the entire site.
