Rikuchū Kurosaki Lighthouse is a white tower perched on a cliff along the Pacific coast in northern Japan. The structure rises approximately 150 meters above sea level and overlooks the waters off Nedari Beach.
The facility began operations in 1947 and became an important navigation aid for ships along the Sanriku Coast. This region is known for difficult straits and unpredictable currents.
The structure earned recognition as a Romance Toudai in 2019 through the All Japan Lighthouse Cultural Value Creation Project for its architectural features.
Observation points near the tower offer views of fishing boats and seabirds going about their daily routines. The site provides good photography opportunities and quiet moments overlooking the marine landscape.
The lighthouse serves as a research site for maritime studies, drawing experts interested in engineering, coastal development, and navigation systems.
