龍泉洞, Limestone cave in Iwaizumi, Japan

The cave received national monument status in 1938 due to its geological formations and resident bat colonies, leading to scientific research and exploration.
The cave waters supply drinking water to Iwaizumi residents and feature in local sake production at the nearby Sengkin Brewery.
Visitors navigate 270 steps during guided tours between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM, with admission costing 1,100 yen for adults including access to the science museum.
Three underground lakes within the cave system contain water with exceptional clarity, reaching depths of up to 98 meters in the third basin.
