Omori Nori Museum

Omori Nori Museum is a food museum in Heiwa-no-Mori Park that displays how nori seaweed is produced, harvested, and processed. The exhibits feature interactive displays and historical objects that explain different methods and show the stages of preparation.

The museum opened in 2008 to preserve the heritage of nori cultivation in the Omori area, which had been a center for seaweed farming for many decades. The region developed specific techniques that became important to local livelihoods over generations.

Nori appears throughout Japanese cooking as an essential ingredient, wrapping sushi rolls and flavoring rice balls that people eat daily. Visitors can observe how this seaweed has shaped local food traditions and remains central to the region's identity as a production hub.
