Jōgashima Kōen, Coastal park in Miura, Japan

Jogashima Park sits at the southern tip of Miura Peninsula and features a coastal landscape with black pine forests and grasslands shaped by Pacific winds. The vegetation adapts to the harsh conditions and creates a distinctive natural setting.

The park was established in 1958 and became an important sanctuary for migratory seabirds. This role has shaped the site ever since and demonstrates its long conservation history.

Poet Hakushu Kitahara drew inspiration from this location and documented his impressions of Miura Peninsula through his literary work. His writings connect the landscape to personal reflection, making the place meaningful for those interested in Japanese literature.

The park is accessible by public transportation and offers wheelchair-friendly facilities throughout the grounds. Navigation on site is straightforward and there is plenty of space to explore.

Two viewing platforms offer sights of Mount Fuji, Boso Peninsula, and Izu Oshima Island when weather permits. In early months, the grounds display thousands of daffodils that create a colorful spectacle.
