Komakado Kazaana Cave

Komakado Kazaana Cave is a lava tube featuring a natural ventilation system that continuously circulates air through its underground passages. The interior maintains a constant temperature of around 19 degrees Celsius due to the way air flows through the cave's structure.

The cave formed from volcanic activity of Mount Fuji, which created an extensive network of underground passages. This network was later designated as a natural monument to protect its geological value.

The cave entrance is marked with a shimenawa rope, reflecting its spiritual significance in the local community. Over generations, residents have viewed this place as a natural storage space, maintaining a deep connection to the land and its gifts.

The site is easy to visit with convenient opening hours on most days of the week. It is advisable to wear sturdy shoes since the paths inside the cave can be uneven and lighting is limited in some areas.

Fresh water from Mount Fuji flows through the cave system, forming small springs where visitors can drink directly. These springs are a rare feature that connects the underground passages directly to the volcano's upper regions.
