Komakado Kazaana Cave, Wind cave and natural monument in Gotemba, Japan
The Komakado Kazaana Cave features a natural ventilation system with continuous air circulation through its lava tube formations, maintaining a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius.
The cave formation resulted from Mount Fuji's volcanic activities, creating an extensive network of underground passages that later became a designated natural monument.
Local residents traditionally used the cave as a natural storage facility during different seasons, placing a shimenawa rope at its entrance to mark its spiritual importance.
The cave welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with entrance fees of 200 yen for adults and reduced rates for students and children.
Fresh water from Mount Fuji flows through the cave, creating small springs where visitors can drink directly using provided communal cups.
