米山大橋

米山大橋, Steel highway bridge in Kashiwazaki, Japan.

Yoneyama Bridge is a steel structure that crosses the Yanegawa River with a distinctive red color. The bridge links both riverbanks and provides a direct passage over the river gorge that defines this landscape.

The structure was built between 1964 and 1966 to help vehicles avoid steep slopes when crossing the river. Since then, it has been an important transportation element on National Route 8.

The bridge connects fishing communities and serves as a gateway to nearby coastal landmarks. Visitors often walk here to access the surrounding areas, which retain traces of local maritime traditions.

The bridge can be crossed on foot and offers good views of the river landscape and the coastal region beyond. During strong winds, traffic restrictions may apply, so it is wise to check current conditions before crossing.

The bridge is known for its innovative wind management system that automatically regulates a multi-kilometer road section. This system is one of the few of its kind in Japan and reflects technical adaptation to the region's frequent weather conditions.
