Hosono Highland

Hosono Highland is a raised plateau in Higashiizu standing at 422 meters above sea level with vast fields of Japanese pampas grass covering its surface. From this elevation, the location offers wide views of Sagami Bay and the gentle terrain stretching in all directions.

The highland contains four distinct wetland areas recognized as Prefectural Natural Monuments. This designation honors their ecological value and importance to the natural environment.

From October to November, people gather to watch the pampas grass fields turn golden in autumn. This seasonal shift shapes how visitors experience the landscape throughout the year.

Two parking areas serve the highland, with the first accommodating 41 vehicles and the second providing space for 103 cars. Visitors should expect varying capacity availability depending on the time of day and season.

The highland spans around 125 hectares, making it one of the largest pampas grass viewing locations in eastern Japan. Its size allows visitors to walk through expansive landscapes without feeling crowded.
