Sakura no Sato, Cherry blossom park in Ito, Japan
Sakura no Sato is a cherry blossom park located at the base of Mount Omuro in Ito. The grounds contain around 1,500 trees representing 40 different varieties that flower sequentially throughout the extended season.
The park was established to preserve rare native cherry tree species including Kawazuzakura and Somei Yoshino varieties. It gained recognition as one of Japan's most important cherry blossom viewing locations due to its diverse collection.
The park serves as a gathering place during blossom season when visitors come to observe the different varieties and experience traditional Japanese performances. The site has become central to local celebration and community gatherings throughout the year.
The park is most easily reached by taking the Ito Line train which connects to nearby cities. Bus stops near the grounds provide convenient access for visitors.
The park flowers almost continuously from September through May rather than just during the typical spring season. This unusually long blooming period results from a carefully chosen mix of early, middle, and late-flowering varieties.
