Agbokim Waterfalls, Seven-stream waterfall in Cross River State, Nigeria
Agbokim Waterfalls is a system of seven separate cascading streams that pour down steep cliff faces in Cross River State. The water masses create an impressive natural formation that spreads across 246 meters and descends through multiple levels on their path downward.
The waterfalls were discovered in the early 1990s by a hunter named Ntankum, who established an initial settlement in the area with his family. This early presence laid the foundation for the site's later development as a natural attraction.
The Ijagam people maintain the natural resources around the falls through sustainable practices, including dedicated efforts to prevent deforestation.
The waterfalls are best visited from April to September during the rainy season when water flows are at their fullest. Reaching the site involves flying to Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar or traveling by public transportation from surrounding cities.
During the rainy season, multiple rainbows form across the seven cascades as sunlight passes through the water mist. This optical display occurs when the sun and water interact at just the right angle.
