Peshawar Zoo

Peshawar Zoo is an animal facility in Pakistan with separate enclosures for different wildlife species. The grounds contain areas for large predators, hoofed animals, birds in dedicated aviaries, and other creatures in appropriate habitats.

The facility opened in 2018 after several years of planning and construction by Pakistan's provincial environmental department. This marked the first major zoo development in the region.

The zoo functions as a gathering place where families and school groups come to observe animals up close and learn about wildlife. Displays throughout the grounds help visitors understand the habits and environments of different species.

Wear comfortable walking shoes since the grounds are large and require substantial time to explore properly. Plan your visit for early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are cooler and animals are more active.

A walk-through bird section allows visitors to observe large waterbirds like pelicans and flamingos in spacious aviaries rather than small cages. The facility has also succeeded in breeding endangered cat species, demonstrating its role in wildlife protection efforts.
