Elka Cableway, Aerial lift in Silesian Park, Chorzów, Poland.
The Elka cableway runs across Silesian Park using two different vehicle types: open four-person chairs and enclosed eight-person gondolas. Both travel on the same route at different elevations, allowing passengers to choose between open and covered rides.
The system was inaugurated in 1967 and was Europe's longest lowland cable system at that time. It has since become a key transportation link in the park and undergone several modernizations.
The cableway links different recreational and cultural venues within the park, making it a common way for visitors to travel between them. People use it to move quickly between the stadium, amusement park, and other attractions scattered across the grounds.
A round trip takes about 40 minutes and the system operates daily except Mondays. On sunny days, you might prefer the enclosed gondolas for shade or the open chairs if you want views across the park.
It is the only system in Poland combining open and enclosed cars on the same line. This gives visitors the rare option to switch between two completely different ride experiences without leaving the park.
