El Khiam, Archaeological site in West Bank, Palestine

El Khiam stands on the shores of the Dead Sea in the Judaean Desert, featuring remnants of prehistoric settlements and stone tool collections.

Excavations at El Khiam began in 1931, with major research conducted by R. Neuville in 1934, Jean Perrot in 1951, and Joaquín González Echegaray in 1961.

The site gave its name to the Khiamian culture and its distinctive stone arrowheads, marking the transition between the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods.

The location coordinates at 31°38'N latitude and 35°15'E longitude guide visitors through the Judaean Desert to reach this archaeological destination.

Researchers discovered specific flint arrowheads at this location, now known as El-Khiam points, which date from 10,000 to 9,500 BCE.
