Dalnerechensk

Dalnerechensk is a town on the left bank of the Bolshaya Ussurka River at about 160 meters elevation, sitting just a short distance from the Chinese border. The Trans-Siberian Railway runs through it, serving as a key transportation link for the region.

The settlement was founded by Cossacks in 1859 as Grafskaya and later became a center for timber processing. It received town status in 1917 and grew as the railway expanded through the region.

The town maintains traditional Russian festivals throughout the year, while the local museum displays artifacts from the Russian Civil War period.

The town is most accessible during warmer months when road conditions are better. The railway station serves as the main transportation hub and a good orientation point for visitors.

An extinct volcano called Salskaya Hill rises near the town at the point where the Bolshaya Ussurka River joins the Ussuri River. This geographic junction marks an unusual natural feature in an otherwise forested landscape.
