Yeysk, Port city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia
Yeysk is a city in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, sitting on the shore of the Taganrog Gulf where the Yeya River meets the Sea of Azov. The settlement combines residential neighborhoods with port infrastructure and stretches along several kilometers of coastline.
The town was founded in 1848 by Prince Mikhail Vorontsov to encourage trade and administration in the Azov region. Over time it grew into a hub for grain transport and fishing.
The local population maintains traditions through festivals at the seafront, where maritime activities merge with regional customs throughout seasons.
The port receives vessels that load goods like grain and building materials and sits a few hundred meters from the town center. Visitors can walk along the waterfront promenade and watch activity at the docks.
Nearby Lake Khanskoye produces mineral mud that has been used for medical treatments in local clinics for over a century. Some visitors travel specifically to try these applications.
