Sts. Peter and Paul Church

Sts. Peter and Paul Church is a Baroque structure in Starocherkasskaya featuring three aisles divided by columns with gilded Corinthian capitals. The interior arrangement creates a sense of grandeur through layered decoration and fine architectural proportions.

The church was built in 1751 as a symbol of Russian presence during the Great Northern War against Sweden. In 1784, neoclassical details were added and white wooden cladding applied to update the structure's appearance.

The icon screen displays intricate wood carvings that blend religious imagery with symbols of Russian power and achievement. Visitors can observe how local artisans merged sacred themes with patriotic elements in their craftsmanship.

A lightning strike in 1924 damaged the roof, but the 112-meter spire with its carillon clock survived and still dominates the skyline. This feature remains visible from a distance and serves as an orientation point for visitors exploring the area.
